new to Articulate - a few basic questions

Nov 24, 2011

Hi everyone,

I'm relatively new to building courses in Articulate, and have a couple of questions:

Video - I'm sure I saw somewhere that there were size and file specifications - what type and size of video can be imported into an Articulate course? (I do not have Video Encoder)

Audio - the course I'm designing has two narrator voices, and I have separate files for each of them... Is there a way to imiport several audio files into one slide, after each other, so that the two narrators can be speaking on the same slide?

Thanks everyone- I look forward to interacting and learning from you all.

Hi Pam and welcome to E-learning Heroes.

Your default slide size is 720x540 (PowerPoint and published in Presenter). If you bring in a video larger than the slide, you'll need to scale it down.

The three supported video formats are:

  1. .mp4
  2. .flv
  3. .swf

Here's a good overview of video formats.

Audio:
By default, you can only import one audio file per slide. You could, however, use an Audio playlist to include a background audio track that's separate from your narration. Otherwise, you'll want to look at combining the audio tracks with a program like Audacity.

Here's a creative workaround for importing multiple audio tracks into your slides. The audio files will be sequential and not layered over one another, but it might also serve your needs.

Again, welcome to Heroes!
