Online Portfolio

Oct 03, 2012

Hi everyone,

I need a few ideas. I want to put together a portfolio and I am not sure which of the free websites to use. DO you have any ideas? And is it easy to upload an Articulate project to those?

Thank you  so much!!!

I have recently created an e-Portfolio using Wordpress and would highly recommend this.  I really like the way you can create pages and menus because I'm used to being able to work with the concept of information architecture.  I originally started creating a presentation style portfolio in PowerPoint, but I have come across so many online portfolios done in Wordpress that are much more flexible and engaging.

It's something I am building on - but have published it publicly now - enjoy!

If you get a "page not found" message, click on the Home tab - I'm working on moving my The Knowledge Project blog to a domain name hosting service and there are some settings I'm not sure about at the moment!!

Carmen,

I know I am coming late to the discussion, but wanted to share some more info.  Wordpress is great and they have been around a long time.  I have been using web hosting services for over 15 yrs and use a company called ixwebhosting.  They have been a pretty good company and offer a free Wordpress plug-in.

I do my domain registrations through ixwebhosting or https://www.ait.com/web-hosting/compare/?ref=dmt-account.  AIT does their own hosting plans, but I use ixwebhosting for that.  AIT has been around for a long time too.

IXwebhosting will even help you get it set up if you run into problems, their customer service has been second to none.  More importantly, their pricing is and was the best on the internet, without all of the games of godaddy.  I have switched various clients off of GoDaddy and some other services and they are a pain to work with.

If you need to transfer files, other than through a program itself, a great ftp (file transfer program) is Coffeecup's free stp program.  They have a paid program too, but they make software for web development for those of us who don't have time to learn all of the coding for HTML, etc.  http://www.coffeecup.com/free-ftp/

Dropbox is an excellent solution and I have found out that you can host an articulate storyline course from Googledocs (now I think it is GoogleDrive).  It doesn't appear automatically, but with one or two clicks, it appears and plays so that it can be taken or reviewed.

Thanks for everyone's input, I learned a few things.  Hope anything I share can be helpful.
