Panopticon Pandemonium: bringing to life Bentham's unrealised prison

Jul 19, 2016

My speciality is intelligence and surveillance and I provide performance support to clients required to comply with UK legislation. The idea of a surveillance panoptican worries many people.

The philosopher and jurist Jeremy Bentham (1748-1832) proposed the idea of a panoptican prison where inmates are subjected to total surveillance. It was never built ... until now!

On this website you will find a full description of the University College London Bentham Project and a gamification of a panoptican prison (using sliders and scoring). It can be downloaded here.

I haven't reviewed it myself yet but thought that it might appeal as an example from which ideas may emanate.
