I assume you are using Storyline. You could enable the seekbar on all slides which also includes a Pause/Continue button. See here for info. Or, you could create a custom Pause/Continue button, add it to the master slide and create triggers that pause/resume the timeline.
If you are only worried about pausing and restarting the audio, then I would add the custom buttons with triggers that pause media and play media. However, this will not pause the slide. If you want to pause the entire slide then I would do as Michael stated and enable the seekbar.

I have an 'audio' related question. I have a main page with intro slide, which branches to several scenes and slides. When the user revisits, the intro audio plays again. How can I suppress this audio when users visit it the second time. Thanks,
Thanks, Allison. I am trying it out now. I was thinking of a variable, and setting it to true, and when users click on any button to branch to any other sections, it changes to 'False'. However please could you help with the 'If Else' statement? thanks. But let me try this time with 'resume its saved state'.
In that case, I think the best bet would be to do a true/false variable to keep track of if they've visited the slide. When setting up the variable, set the initial value to False. Then create this trigger:
And then this one to stop the audio on return:
Make sure you have the navigation and assignment triggers in this order:
In those examples I made a button called Next. I tried it with the built in Next button and it didn't change the variable value- that might be a bug in Storyline 360. Hope that helps!
Beautiful!! Works very nicely. This is so very helpful. I only wish that there were fewer steps-as I have many screens like this. In Flash, we had a 'Stop all audio' function..which was so helpful.
Here is the File. From the main menu, please click on the green button (Prevent Injury) to go to 'Preventative Injuries'. This is the scene, I am having problems. Even if I go to each sub-section of this 'Prevent Workplace Injuries' for example to 'Emergency Exit' 'Safety Language' etc....' when I come back to 'Prevent Workplace Injuries' page, the main audio still plays. I was able to 'pause' it in main module page. Why can I not do it here? Thanks
I just previewed your file and the audio on 'Preventative Injuries isn't replaying when I return to that slide. I checked the variable Main_Menu_Audio and it is triggering to true and stopping the audio as expected.
Thank you for taking the time to review, Wendy. You are right, the Intro-Audio does not play. And this is what I wanted. Sorry for not explaining well. I want the 'Audio-green' to stop as well, when user clicks to any of the six buttons and comes back after clicking on each lightbox sub-menu.

When you use layers or lightbox slides the 'timeline' of the base slide never restarts.
I changed the trigger to stop the audio from 'when timeline starts' to 'when variable changes' and I changed the revisit slide option to 'resume saved state'

Love this feature. Thanks
Hello,

Hi Indrani,
The easiest way to do this would be to set the slide to resume its saved state when it's revisited.

No, the audio continues when revisiting. I would not want it to play at all.
Thanks,

Thank you so much-Allison. I am using Storyline 2, and hoping that this technique will work.
I am trying it now, and will let you know.

I tried it, but did not work out. Please could you take a look at the source file?
Thank you again-Allison
Hi Indrani,
Thanks for the file! You got the slide trigger to stop the audio right, but the button triggers weren't quite right. This is what you need:
Make sure you change the variable before you jump to the different slide.
Allison

I will take a look now.

Hi Allison,
Somehow I am still having this issue. If I send you a sample file, please would you mind taking a look? Many thanks,

Hi Indrani
see attached updates to your file.
When you use layers or lightbox slides the 'timeline' of the base slide never restarts.
I changed the trigger to stop the audio from 'when timeline starts' to 'when variable changes' and I changed the revisit slide option to 'resume saved state'
Hope this helps
Thank you. This is good to know, and very helpful.
Many thanks,
Indrani
