You seem to be doing it correctly. I export by opening the Media Library and exporting from there, and I get the image exactly as it was before I put it into the Storyline file.
Are you modifying the picture at all before you put it into Storyline? When you compare the imported image to the original are you opening both in the same software? I find that using the Windows image preview works pretty well for making these comparisons.
If exporting from the slide itself, since you have the choice of different image types there, you might want to try saving out as an EMF instead of something as a PNG. Generally speaking, many times I find the EMFs to be a tad bit better than PNGs, especially for photos.
You might also want to try stretching the image and making it as big possible before you export it out and save it. If you save it out smaller, and then try to stretch it or make it bigger afterwards, it might become pixelated.
