Publishing and presenting format

Mar 17, 2016

I was having a discussion today with a member of our IT department. He stated that we are not going to be updating our Flash player anymore due to security issues. We are going to be moving away from Flash and Java both due to the security concerns. If we do that, are there alternative methods of displaying articulate courses? Right now I am using Studio 13, publishing in SCORM for uploading into Moodle. I want to get a jump on this issue before it happens, which apparently will be soon. Any thoughts on this?

Hi Scott,

One of the great things about using an authoring tool like Articulate Studio or Storyline, is that you can very easily republish in different formats.  I would worth with your IT / LMS team to review the publishing options in Studio and decide which will be best based on browser support of HTML5 etc.  In short... this is a little work but not insurmountable at all.

On a very different note.... you mentioned no longer supporting JAVA.  Just a word of caution here.... some LMSs still use JAVA as part of the communication back and forth from the learner's browser. I know of a couple for sure that do.  If your LMS requires it, this WILL be a real problem (unlike the Flash thing).  I would work with your IT team and LMS vendor to be sure you are in the clear here.
