Publishing without Flash

Can you publish a course without Flash?

If you publish to HTML5 and the machine running the content does not have Flash enabled, the launch page will automatically redirect to the HTML5 alternative. One note, Firefox has spotty support. If you're using video in your course embedded directly in a slide, you'll probably be disappointed in the results running in Firefox.

Sidenote 2,  inherently swf's are no more dangerous than any other file. There's quite a bit of hubbub about this in the media right now and some are reacting with extreme bias. If you're publishing outputs using a reputable tool and you haven't yourself injected any evil into the package, then folks should feel safe to trust that output.

I have no bias for or against Flash. Facts are facts. The user is a biggest risk to the machine and the network. We aren't seeing calls to extinguish the user:) Yet...

Pointing to the HTML5 output as Matthew points out above, the user will never hit the Flash files.

Hi Betsy, I never use the publish to Flash content, most of my apps end up as iOS/Google Play apps using HTML5. I strip all the .swf files out and delete the story.html, etc after final publish and rename story_html5.html to index.html.

I'm confident that it will be an option to choose your platform in upcoming versions of SL.
