pulling users answer through to another page/layer

Jan 15, 2014

Hi there,

We have a set of multiple choice questions and on submit the feedback is given as a pop-up.  I need to pull through the answers the user has selected to the pop-up (layer) - is there a way in storyline that I can do this?

many thanks

Julie

Hi Julie!

Welcome to the community and thank you for posting your question!

Would it be possible for you to keep the pop-up feedbacklayer transparent (so they can still see their answer in the multiple choice question) and move the pop up over to the side of the slide. This way they could see their answer, but also see the pop-up information?

Let me know if this might be a possible solution for you!

I little more time intensive than Nicole's suggestion, but...

You could put all of the quiz answers into their own variables. Build the test using the %variable names% for the answers. Add a variable called something like "selected answer". Add a trigger to set the selected answer variable equal to the quiz answer variable the user selected. Display the selected answer variable content in the feedback box using the %selected answer% format.

Make sense?

I used the method that Julie mentions of having a layer with the correct answers over to the side of the answers they selected. The correct answers are on another layer and when they click submit it brings up that layer not the standard Correct or Incorrect. The results slide still calculates the quiz correctly.

I have attached a screen shot. Your Answer is what they selected and the Correct Answer is what was on the Layer.

Clicking Next continues to the other quiz questions. The feedback I received from participants was positive in helping them see what they did or did not get right especially on multiple choice.
