Quizz variable attempts

Apr 11, 2019

Hello everyone!

I need help regarding variables in quizzes.
My client wants me to make a course in which participants needs to go through the quizz with these requirements:

1. Questions should have 3 attempts
2. After failed 3 attemps quizz should display the correct anwser and to allow participant to go to the next question.
3. The final thing is overall percentage of course.

In attach there is a screenshot of my screen from Articulate where I just put random text. In the left corner I have 3 circles that of course represent 3 attempts.

Everytime when participant choose wrong answer one attempt should dissapear.

So can someone please put step by step what should i do in order to finish this? I obviously dont have any experience in making variables.

Thank you very much.

I'd solve it this way:

  1. Set the number of attempts in the question settings to 3
  2. Create a numeric variable
  3. Add a trigger to the question layer for "Try again" and "incorrect answer": Add 1 to said variable
  4. Add states to your attempts (or set state to hidden)
  5. Add a trigger for each state "change state to..." if the variable is equal to 1 (for one attempt) 2 (2 attempts) etc. [triggered when variable changes]
  6. Put the correct answer on the "incorrect layer"

Hope that helps.
