Recording Audio

Aug 24, 2016

A large number of voice recordings we do for our courses are done by experts in the field. They will call us at a certain time and record their voice through our conferencing software. The issue we run into is the quality of the recording. In some instances, you can tell the recording was completed over a telephone. We are currently brainstorming various ways to avoid voice recordings over our conferencing software. We are considering telling the SME to use free recording software such as Audacity, but we are worried that the companies IT may have push back. Does any one have suggestions on what has worked for you when dealing with a narrator who has to record remotely? As a side note, we do suggest to the narrator/presenter to not use a speaker phone and if possible, use a headset.

Hi Brian,

Could you possibly get your SME's to record in their computers using a decent microphone and send you a mp3 file. I use audacity as you suggested which is free, then save as mp3 to load in to storyline.

Oherwise what about a hand held recording each one has with a usb attachment so they could send you a mp3 file when complete. I used to use this system and it worked really well, with no need to invole IT dept :)

Hope this helps
