Recording genuine number of quiz submissions, not accesses

Jan 30, 2014

Hi all, has anyone come across the below issue and had any luck in resolving?

We are using Articulate Studio 13 and Captivate to create SCORM 2004 courses and uploading them to Kallidus LMS. The number of attempts (shown as "Uses") gives us the total number of accesses - but we would like to capture how many times it took the learner to pass, based only on the times they attempted the quiz at the end.

Although it's ideal if our learners complete eLearning in one sitting, our environment means they can be interrupted frequently, and therefore we set the quiz attempts to unlimited. So 5 attempts is fine, but we don't need to know that number as much as we do e.g. they took 2 attempts at the quiz to get a pass mark. This would substantially add value to our reporting.

To manually restrict and then reset accesses or create a separate 'resit' module is not practical for the volume we have.

We know that in all aspects, it is reporting correctly and scoring on the LMS correctly. THe courses always show Complete or Passed correctly once the user gains a pass mark. The history on the LMS also breaks down their attempts, but if they access it and leave without reattempting the quiz, it will just show the same score, so we don't know if they genuinely took the quiz again and hit Submit. Just that they opened the eLearning. Also, we'd like to see that figure at a glance without accessing individual history records.

Does anyone have any knowledge of this and what area of the SCORM generation or LMS settings would relate to this? If we were to look at a new combination of software/LMS, what functionality would control this if any? Thanks, Sukhi
