Recording Screencast Tips

I am interested in learning more about the opinions of other designers on preferences of using the various styles of highlights and cursors to engage their learners during screencast interactions.  What are you using? When and how are you inserting them into your video?

This is a great question Lisa! Personally, I'm not a huge fan of using a lot of highlights and other overt annotations. I think less is more in this case. When I do highlight areas of the screen or zoom into a specific area, I only do it when it's absolutely necessary to enhance the task you're demonstrating. Otherwise, you run the risk of actually creating more distraction.
