Registering #attempts in LMS

Jun 29, 2017

Hi all,

For a client our company is developing several online quizzes with Articulate Storyline 360. Each week a new quiz will be offered via their LMS (SuccessFactors) to the employees, and the employee who was best (less number of attempts and quickest time) in answering all questions correctly will be the winner of the week.

The quiz can only be finished successfully when all answers (7 out of 7) have been answered correctly. There is no reviewmode and the client wanted to have only the incorrectly answered questions to be presented when retrying the quiz.

We have managed to get this working properly. However, for deciding who the winner of the week is, we need to know the number of attempts it took to successfully end the quiz and there we encounter currently an issue with the LMS: the reports we use only shows one attempt for every person who successfully ends the quiz.

Does anyone here know if / how it is able to report the #attempts in the LMS? Is there an attribute which is registered by the system, or is there any (java) code we can use to register the attempts ourselves?

Hope any of you can help. Thanks!

Hi Frank,

Every time I've done this it's been on the LMS side. As one of the more prominent systems, I would be shocked if Success Factors didn't have this ability to track date/time of each attempt as well as total number of attempts.

You may want to work with their LMS admin to see what parameters they have asked their LMS to track.... best score, highest score, # of attempts, etc  for the course(s).   These are typically settings that the admin has control over....   and accordingly they can be reported on.  You probably just need a different report than the one they have shared with you.
