Scorm / xAPI concerns

Hi,

I'm new to the eLearning world and have been project managing the implementation of a native LMS which my company inhouse software development team are building. We've now launched a few courses (which look amazing) but unable to track scores which of course is pretty important.

One of the frustrations I have is that from day one I have been told that the LMS is scorm compliant, however, this isn't the case.  So, i'm trying to get my head around what is needed and also cost effective.

What do others do that have native LMSs in place? Have you bought seperate Scorm or xAPI or something else? is this something we can build ourselves?

Any advice would be fantastic please.

On another note, can I say I have had to teach myself all about eLearning, using articulate and also goanimate through yourselves, the videos and forums have been invaluable to me :)
