Screen resolution in SCORM Package.

Jan 10, 2012

Hi,

Can I change screen resolution in SCORM package file?

I have created SCORM file on the resolution of 1240 x 780 and now I want to change it up to 800 x 600. Am I able to change while creating SCORM complaint package?

I would like to have your valuable suggestions on that.

Regards,
Hassam

Hi Hassam,

Can you say a little more around what you want to do? Are you trying to control the size of your published Articulate course?

Where did you specify the 1240x780, exactly? In the index_lms.html?

If you're trying to resize your published course, you can publish to "Scale to fit browser" and then add a link from your LMS that opens the player.html or index_lms.html in a predefined window size. I'm thinking that might be what you want to do, but please tell me if it isn't and we'll see what we can do to help out.

Hi

Thanks for your reply.  Actually there are some simulations I have record from my another laptop. That laptop's screen resolution is 1024 x768. I put those simulations in Articulate and STT trainer and, converted into SCORM Package file. Now, I have another laptop of a screen resolution is 800 x 600. My content is going out of the screen.

I want to know that how can I change the resolution within the Package file.

Hi Mohammad,

Are you publishing everything in Articulate Studio? Are your simulations also inserted into Studio? or are they separate files that are loaded outside Presenter's player?

You know, you could create a new html file that includes an <iframe> that will resize your published course. Presenter isn't designed to scale below 980x640 so you could see some quality loss at the 800x600 resolution.

Example of <iframe>:

<iframe width="720" height="540" scrolling="no" frameborder="0"  allowtransparency="true" class="igm" src="player.html"></iframe>

Here's an example of a Presenter course published and inserted into an iframe: https://sites.google.com/site/quickembedtest/

I used articulate engage but the simulations were recorded through STT Trainer. I put those simulations in articulate and make it on SCORM file. Now, the problem is, I want to change the screen resolution.

David,

Thanks for your reply. But i still have 2 questions

1. You mean to say that i have to create new HTML file and put above code in there, but then how do i link with SCORM complaint file? Can I put this code in the player.html file?

2. The above link is working for a little while. I can see the player resolution has been changed but, I think there is some problem in the link, because after few seconds it redirects me towards to Articulate.

Hi Mohammad,

I don't think you need to use an iframe, but it's another way to customize the size of your published course. Sometimes users want to embed their SCORM courses inside CMS like Moodle or Blackboard and keep the course inside the default page.

What I think should work is Presenter's default template options. Are you familiar with the player templates? Here's a quick screencast overview of what I thin will work, as well as a link to some basic info on player templates:
