Screenr: Unable to see the recroding window

Sep 15, 2011

I would like to use screenr for recording some quick screencasts however whenever I click on the record button I get a screen message which says "Screen recorder loaded!" but I am unable to see any recording window.

I was prompted to update java, which I did by clicking on yes. Has anyone had similar issues and were able to resolve it. I will be glad if I can get this working on my machine. Any help much appreciated.

Kind regards,

Deepak

Hi Robert, thanks for your reply. I have tried this on IE7, Google Chrome, Firefox 6 but they all behave same. I am using Win XP professional. I have rebooted my machine. done the java test.  I tested this on my colleague's machine and it works fine. It works on my home laptop. Spoke to IT guys and they say its got nothing to do with firewall. bit stumped with this issue. I have posted this on the screenr community help page as well now.

Kind regards,

Deepak

I'm not sure if you have administrative rights on your PC, but you could try javara. It'll see if you have conflicting versions of java on your machine. It's free. JavaRa is a simple tool that does a simple job: it removes old and redundant versions of the Java Runtime Environment (JRE). Simply select “Check for Updates” or “Remove Older Version” to begin.

Hi Christopher, thanks for the reply. I wont be able to use this tool due to IT restrictions. Let me give you some more information if this helps. While trying to access screenr the java was detected and I was asked to update the java version. Java version was updated and I was on 1.6.0_27. However I have few applications on my machine which require 1.6.0_11. Hence after Java upgrade I could not work on doucmentum. Called up IT and they put me back on 1.6.0_11 and documentum worked as usual. I was expecting Screenr to work as well. However I can still not work on Screenr.

Now when I use IE 7 to launch screenr java gets detected, I get the message screen recorder loaded and nothing happens. However other browsers donot detect java and point me to update java. After just resolving my documentum issue I guess I am not keen on updating java. So may be I have to live with not using Screenr on this machine.
