Simulating Software Settings and Allowing Users to Export Settings Choices

Apr 17, 2017

Hello all,

I work for a software company and one of our many challenges is going through basic settings calls with clients. Our current settings call is over 3 hours long, and there is now an appetite to move that into self-serve eLearning delivery rather than having an agent sit on the phone with each client for 3 hours.

My question is does anyone know of a way to walk through critical settings information, and have data entered into the eLearning by the client export out into a document that he/she keeps? For example, if we go over how to set up a calendar in the eLearning, and as part of walking through the process, the learner chooses different calendar options, does anyone know of a way to take and export those choices out into a handout of some kind? Am I shooting for the moon here? My thought is that by the end of the eLearning, clients would be able to walk away with different sheets that they could take to their instances and use to do their personal set up.

Yes, this is possible.  There is a great discussion on catching, printing, and emailing user notes that would be a great place for you to start: LINK

I've used a similar technique to catch a user's choices through a decision tree to give them customized instructions on completing an access request form based on their choices that they could print and keep handy when actually making the request.
