Simulation software

Jan 19, 2012

I am new to creating e-learning, I work for a credit union in Alaska that has employees scattered across the state.  We have used Softsim from Outstart to create simulations in the past.  I am looking for another option that I can use with Articulate.  Most of the simulations I would create and put in an e-learning course would be demos of our platform software and may contain information that  need to be restricted to our employees, so Screenr would not work.  Our Softsim contract is up for renewal so it is a great time to try something else.  Any suggestions would be appreciated.

Hi Nina, and welcome!

Regarding Screenr: I understand your concern about confidentiality, and you're right, the standard Screenr screencasts do end up in the public stream and anyone can see them. Have you thought about Screenr Business? It offers a way to create private screencasts that only you can see. And just like with the regular Screenr, you can download the MP4s or embed them in your courses.

Another thing you might be interested to know is that we are nearing the end of the beta period for our brand-new authoring tool called Articulate Storyline, and it has an amazingly powerful screen-recording/simulation tool built right in.. You can sign up here if you'd like to be notified as soon as Storyline launches.

Here's the pricing structure for Screenr Biz, and although exact pricing info hasn't yet been announced for Storyline, we do know that it'll be priced in a similar ballpark as Articulate Studio, which you can find pricing for right here. The neat thing about Storyline is that it's a one-stop-shop, meaning that it contains all the tools for content development, quizzing, screen recording, and more... all in one package.
