Slide advance with video

Feb 13, 2019

I created a Power Point presentation in Storyline 3 that includes imported slides synched to videos.  The problem is that the presentation is not advancing properly.  I want the learner to view and hear and the video first before selecting the Next button to advance to the next slide.  What is happening is that I can set the triggers to either view the video without a next option (the learner cannot advance slide but it is advanced automatically) or the learner can skip the video entirely by selecting the Next button to advance to the next slide.  I thought I had some success when I had a slide trigger to advance once timeline ends and then I also tried it with the option of timeline starts.  Can you help?  I need to know the triggers and options so that the learner can have control of advancing by selecting the Next button on Player Properties but have to listen/view imbedded video first.   Thanks, Shelly

Hi Shelly,

The easiest way to do this would be to hide or disable the Next button until the end of the timeline. To do this, you'll need to add 2 triggers:

  • 1 to change the state of the Next button to Hidden or Disabled (up to you which one you prefer) when the timeline starts
  • 1 to change the state of the Next button to Normal when the timeline ends

Let me know if you run into any issues getting that to work!
