I'm looking for some insight... I was recently asked how long it takes to design training content for an online learning platform/ social learning platform such as NovoEd (https://www.novoed.com/) or Intredpid (https://www.intrepidlearning.com/). When I develop on this platform I include articulate interactions as well as classroom exercises in online break out rooms. So, it's a blend of both classroom design skills and elearning design skills. Has anyone had experience estimating the amount of time it takes to develop using this modality?

Hi Shanna. There are a number of different approaches people use for estimating development time, but a lot depends on the complexity of the projects you're creating. I've written this article with some things to consider and links to some of the industry-standard resources for estimating course development time. Many of them are focused on transforming ILT to e-learning but they should help with estimating at least some of the work you're doing.
