Hi Allison,

I meant offering 'Instructional Designer solutions' to clients as per their requirement.

I am looking for experiences on client expectations and what can be offered to them. I am about to deal with clients thus asking if somebody has experience to share. Also, if there are any samples / document on the same.

Hi Malvika,

Do you mean something like a project charter? If so, here's a template you can download and adapt. There are a bunch of other project management templates available as well if that's not quite what you're looking for.

If I'm totally misunderstanding your question, please let me know! Hope that helps.

Hi Malvika,

I too am not quite sure what you are asking. But if I understand correctly, then I think the options available are really about what you are comfortable offering and what the client is willing to contract with you for.

For example.... If your going in premise is to only provide E-learning development on content they provide, then no matter what they had in mind your solutions would be limited to creating developing e-courses.

Conversely...  If you are comfortable playing in a broader performance consultant-type role to help the business, AND the business is willing to be open to various options, then your solutions might be wide-ranging indeed..... from courseware and job aides, to efficiency studies, to management training, incentive programs, process design and more.

So start with you and the services/areas of expertise where you think you can add value. If it turns out that the business needs more than just those areas (and is willing to explore them)..... then you have some choices including possibly sub-contracting or partnering with someone else to provide a blended solution.

Does that help?

Thanks Bob. It does help.

I am just new to Instructional Designing and was looking into samples/ examples that can help me practically learn various strategies shared in a 'Consulting' role. Would you be able to suggest something. I need to polish myself as an Instructional Designer and would need your help / thoughts in helping me grow in this profession.

Thanks Allison.

To give you a background, I have just started in the role of Instructional Designer.

I was looking for samples / examples wherein I can learn what Instructional Strategies can be offered to a client. For example - if client gives us base content and asks us to provide strategy to build the course,  what are the parameter we suggest the client strategies.

Also, would you be able to share any other samples / links that can help me becomes a better Instructional Designer.

Regards

Malvika
