Source for hand drawn cartoons similar to Whiteboard magic?

Oct 24, 2011

Does anyone know where to find hand drawn cartoons to use in a course which will create an effect similar to the one in Daniel Pink's Drive - Whiteboard Magic vidoe? It is a great style. Here is the link if you haven't seen it: http://www.danpink.com/archives/2010/06/whiteboard-magic

Thanks,

Julie

I'm sure others will have great sources for already-done cartoon figures (I loved the Daniel Pink presentation - and the Ken Robinson one, too, actually).  I'd like to recommend a book called "The Back of the Napkin" by Dan Roam.  It's got theory behind it, but it breaks down the actual drawing in a practical and approachable way.  I got it at the library, but I keep renewing it, so I think I'm going to have to buy it!  Here's a link:

Good luck!

Hi Julie,

We find iStockPhoto to be a good place to buy vector images. I don't know if they have the exact style you're looking for but we recently built a course based on hand drawn images we found on the site. Even if you don't purchase images it can be a good place to look for inspiration.

In the course our team produced, one of the team actually drew the images on paper and then scanned them.

Another thing you may want to consider is drawing your own images using a Bamboo tablet. It's like a glorified mouse but provides you a pen and drawing surface. You can then save the images you draw and use them in your presentation.

Hope this helps.
