I can confirm that what Nancy suggested will work. Just right-click and select Replace to retain the captions.
It's also possible to export the existing CC text on the Audio Options tab. You can re-import it for the new file. However, it's faster to just replace each file.

I think you can retain the captions if you replace the text-to-speech audio file with the talent audio file instead of deleting and reinserting.
I have not done this for a while so could be misremembering.
