Storyline 2 and LMS Issues - Need help

Jul 08, 2016

Hello - I have built a course in Storyline 2 that I am having issues displaying information.

I loaded the published course into our LMS, travitor, and I have tested the course.  I have users having different experiences then I am having.  Buttons appear for them that do not appear for me (in Storyline preview or when I preview the course in the LMS).

I feel like I am going crazy.  Anyone have any ideas why this would happen?

Marcey,

Without knowing more, at first blush there are two avenues I think you might want to investigate...

  1. Some LMS's put a "skin" on courses that includes things like "close course" buttons and such. The details of that skin can be set during the publishing (to LMS) process.... that may be why you are seeing something different.
  2. The other thought is a possible browser problem rather than an LMS problem. As you probably know, some browsers  or browser settings don't always play nice.  For example, if you have an LMS that still requires JAVA to register course completions and your learners don't have the latest version, they can get odd behavior or a pop up button asking for it sometimes.... again why you might be seeing something different.

Can you have your users take a screenshot so you can isolate the differences between what you see and they see?

Hi Marcey,

I'd agree with Bob's assessments and ideas here. Another cool tool would be to look at testing out the course in SCORM Cloud which is an industry standard to test SCORM Content. You can follow the directions and testing steps here to try it out and compare that with what your users are seeing in the LMS. That'll help determine if the LMS is adding a player element, the browser or truly the course...if you're unable to replicate it on your end though, I suspect the LMS player or browser are the culprit.

Let us know how that goes, and if you are able to replicate it at SCORM Cloud our team is also happy to take a look at the set up and what else may be occurring. You can reach out to our Support engineers here.
