Storyline Quizzes in Moodle

Oct 21, 2017

I've been developing a course in Storyline 3 and have included a final quiz.  I've set triggers so that if the student fails the test he is sent back to the beginning to retake the test or course depending on how many times he fails.  If he passes it goes to a Congratulations page.

My client now wants this course put into Moodle and be able to run reports on who has accessed the course and who has completed the course.  My questions are these.

1.  Is this even possible?  How would you determine if the student completes the Storyline Module?

2.  How do you grade this?  Storyline does give a passing percentage, but how would this be transferred to the report?  Can you simply grade this on a pass/fail?

3.  Should I take the final test out completely from Storyline and either use QuizMaker or the Moodle quiz feature?

Thank you so much for any help you can give me!

Hi Melanie,

I'm not a Moodle expert, so I won't be able to respond to your Moodle-specific questions, but I can answer your questions based on what I know about what Storyline allows you to do.

1. Storyline sends information to your LMS about completion, so this should be possible as long as you're able to view that information on Moodle. I think you can, but I'm not sure how much detail you can see.

2. Basically you need to determine what percentage is equal to a pass so the LMS recognizes whether or not each learner has passed or failed.

3. You don't need to separate the quiz from the rest of the course.

I hope this helps! I would look to the Moodle community for further questions about specific reporting in that tool.
