Hi John, I think it is happening because you are using a none standard size for your stage (i.e., you are not maintaining the aspect ratio). I created a project using 850x684 (which maintains the aspect ratio) and inserted the template you are using and it scaled to fit the screen properly. I then tried it using 850x550 and got the same results are you.
So I am guessing that it does this to prevent the image from becoming distorted when using a non-standard ratio.
