Trigger brain twister!

Aug 08, 2019

Hello! I need help setting triggers so that users have to select two items - there are only three combinations that have a correct answer. How can I make the pick many free-form question do this when the first item is dropped initally the corresponding correct item is not dropped yet so the variable will render it false? Doing my head in, haha! SL file in the comment below (slide 2).

Correct combinations:

  • Blue cloth & white plate
  • Blue cloth and red plate
  • White cloth and red plate

Here's a quick recording to show one way to do it.

  • I create a trigger to automatically set the answer to incorrect. If you hit submit without answering, you're incorrect. :)
  • Got rid of all the drag correct/incorrect states
  • Focus on the table which represents the three cloth options
  • Change answer to true when a plate is dropped on the table on the condition the table state is a match.

Wohoo this is so helpful, thanks Tom! HEAPS easier. I am so grateful. Those triggers are way simpler. Note to self: always set the initial state to incorrect when the timeline starts!

Can you think of a way for this to work if the learner selects the plate before the tablecloth? (I mean, who would do that?!). I might just tell them to select the tablecloth first in the incorrect feedback.
