I have 4 layers attached to buttons. Each layer has audio, a picture and then jumps to a slide with a video. I have disabled all off the layers (buttons) until the timeline ends at which point I enable the first button. I am having trouble activating the second button and so on. I am not sure what I am doing wrong. Help! Thanks!
I took a quick look. I might play with the order of the triggers -- i.e, move the changing state of the button one up in front of jump to slide X trigger.
Have you told them they need to proceed in a certain order? If not perhaps activate all buttons when timeline finished. For buttons to be active when you return to the main slide, you'll probably have to go to go to layer properties (gear looking thing) and choose that when a person revisits, the saved state is presented.
Well, That's what I'm attempting to do. I need the first button (layer) to be watched in its entirety before the second button (layer) can be watched. I've done it before, where I have changed the state to the following button (layer) using a trigger the previous button (layer) But I think what is messing me up is that I have each layer jumping to a slide to show a video. I would put a lightbox in the layer but the customer wants them to have to watch the entire video and not be able to close it. When the video slide jumps back to the base layer, the state of that first button is no longer visited. I do have "resume saved state" on the base layer.
isn't this the same as slide 2.4 where they branch off to other slides then come back and continue on? Is that branching still working correctly and can't you copy the trigger setup the same for this instance?
That one works but everything is on the base slide. Layers weren't used for those and there were no videos. When the first video ends and it returns to saved state, it's not returning to the saved state. No buttons are visited. It's like it goes back too far?
I'm on a limited internet connection where I am. Can you create a new project file and import in just the slide with the layers and the following slide you need help with and I'll take a look for you.
In the states tab set all the buttons to initial state 'Disabled' then you don't need all the triggers.
Add the change state of Button 2 to normal on the Button 1 layer, Button 3 to normal on Button 2 layer, Button 4 to normal on Button 3 layer.
Add the change state of Next button to normal trigger when the state of all buttons are visited on button 4 layer.
See updated file attached - hope this helps - shout out with any questions.
That takes care of the layers - not sure when you want the other slides included or did you use the images just as placeholders on the layers and that is where you will put the videos?
Thanks so much. The only problem is that I have a trigger from the layers to jump to another slide and when it jumps back to the base slide, it doesn't keep the visited state. The visited state works when I don't have the video.
ok I have created four T/F variables default to false - one for each button. On the video slides, we set the variable to True.
On the main slide with the buttons I have duplicated the Visited state and created a custom state called 'Completed'.
There is a trigger on the main slide to change the state of a button to 'completed' when the timeline starts on condition the variable is equal to True.
I watched the first one and it worked - sorry I don't have time to sit through all others but let me know if there is still an issue.
Wendy - I am almost there! I did everything you said and then added triggers to make the buttons normal. I was able to say "change button 2 to normal if button 1 is complete" It works perfectly for that one, but then when I do it for button 3 and and 4, it doesn't. I was so excited and then not:( If you have time, could you look at it to see why.
see attached update file. Also check out slide 1.4 I put a transparent shape over the video so the user can't click on the video to pause it accidently.
Hi Wendy!!! Thank you so much. Everything worked and it's beautiful!! Now they just came back and told me that next button isn't working on the results slide. When I have the player menu on Free, it works fine but when I put it on restricted, the next button does activate and let me go to the next slide. Hopefully this is a pretty easy fix that I can't see. I've attached, just that part.

Jennifer: This is a big file (162 MB). What slide in particular are you having difficulty with?
2.14
I forgot that detail. Thanks!
2.14 Thanks

I got a feeling that's the issue. When triggers don't work as expected,
that's the first thing I mess with.
Unfortunately that didn't work. It's weird. When it goes back to the main slide, I can't even press on the first button.

Thanks to you , I've learned so much! This one is stumping me!
I tried to do "change state of button 4 to normal when timeline starts and button 1 has been visited" But the visited state goes away.

I'm on a limited internet connection where I am. Can you create a new project file and import in just the slide with the layers and the following slide you need help with and I'll take a look for you.
Here it is. Thanks!
Hi Jen
see if this sample helps you
Sorry I uploaded my sample file before I refreshed and saw your post - I'll take a look at your file now.
Hi Jen
In the states tab set all the buttons to initial state 'Disabled' then you don't need all the triggers.
Add the change state of Button 2 to normal on the Button 1 layer, Button 3 to normal on Button 2 layer, Button 4 to normal on Button 3 layer.
Add the change state of Next button to normal trigger when the state of all buttons are visited on button 4 layer.

I wish I didn't have these videos. lol

Sure Jen just out of my office for an hour or so will check it when I get back
thanks!
