Tutorial: Adding a Flip Book to Your Storyline Course

Have you ever wanted to add a flip book to a Storyline course?

No, I'm not talking about those flip books we used to make when we were kids. You know, the ones where you draw a little picture in the corner of the page, and then flick the pages to see the drawing move...

I'm talking about the kind that make your content look like a real book or magazine, complete with page turning animations.

You know the ones.

Let me know if you have any questions, comments or are stuck with implementing any of this. I'm happy to help where I can.

Hi Matthew, many thanks for this really useful tutorial. I wondered if it was possible at all to add any interactivity to each page i.e. buttons to activate layers. From your tutorial i'm gathering that the Web Object (WO) sits on a single slide in SL and that the WO itself sits above all other buttons/objects/assets?

Would I also be able to have WO's on a series of slides in the scene so for example:

  • 5x slides
  • 5x Web Objects
  • Page 1 of the WO is linked to Slide 1, Page 2 of the WO is linked to Slide 2 etc.

In the above example would I be able to turn page 1 from slide 1 to then advance to slide 2 showing page 2? and will the animation still work as expected?

Kind Regards

Matthew Bibby

This is an old tutorial and I'm not sure if it still works in newer versions of Storyline, so I've removed the tutorial from my website.

But I've had a couple of enquiries about it recently, so I'm including a PDF copy of the tutorial below. Any questions, let me know.
