Using SCORM to wrap video and track progress

Aug 23, 2021

Hi all,

We have Zoom recording as a mandatory activity and at the moment, we are using URL to link to the recording and it mark as complete as long as the user clicks on it. We would like to know if it is possible to use SCORM to wrap the video and track the progress in LMS? So for example, if they watched the whole 1 hr they are completed, if they watched 30 mins then they are 50% complete, if they haven't watched it then they are incomplete.

Best regards

Anthony

Hi Anthony

We do this and it works well.  We upload the MP4 file into Storyline and adjust the video settings so that there are no controls.  The only snag is learners have to watch the entire video to get completion.  We use this for 30 minute videos of specialist clinical inservices and learners need to watch the entire clip.    I've attached the Storyline file we use for this purpose.

Hope this helps.

Hi Helen,

Thank you for your suggestion! I can see that you do not allow user to skip or pause and must watch the whole video until they can then click Exit to trigger the completion.

However, most of our webinar recordings are more than an hour, some are even 3 hours, so we do not want to restrict the user from pausing and freely exiting and returning to the activity. Do you have any other idea how I can allow the user to pause, leave the activity and return to the same time?

Thank you

Sarah Hodge

Great suggestions Helen and Phil! Anthony, as Phil mentioned, you can manually upload videos to Review 360. All you have to do is:

  1. Open your web browser to your Review 360 dashboard.
  2.  Click the "upload a file" link at the top.
  3. Hover over your video and click the ellipsis (…) menu that appears.
  4. Choose Export to LMS. From there you can select from the LMS options and what percentage of the video you want the learner to watch to mark as complete.

Since each LMS is different, you'll want to test it. I hope that helps!

Hi Sarah,

I used the method you suggested, however, when I leave half way (at 37 mins of a 1.5 hours long webinar) and it does not resume at the same min where I left.

It is also really hard to get the balance between making sure they watched all but have the flexibility to playback and pause.

Hope someone has a brilliant idea on improving this!

Best regards

Hi Anthony,

I hope i understand what you are looking for.

Perhaps Learnworlds has the solution for you when you want to add a video and then see the statistics. https://support.learnworlds.com/support/solutions/articles/12000063672

They also have the option to track SCORM and see how far the students are in percentages. But you have to manage that in articulate as well with a result slide and some 'trackingpages' and set that up when you click on publish (LMS option). But within a video (1 page scorm?) i don't know if that's possible.

Kind Regards,

Inés
