Video based how to course

Dec 02, 2013

Hi!

A recent project is shaping up to be a 100% video based course.  The purpose of the project is to introduce and "walk through" a sales software package.

Before I start to work I need to choose rapid development tool with three basic requirements;

1. The end user needs must have access to a table of contents so they can switch between slides/content and have the freedom to move about.  I know that Articulate can accommodate this

2. To be able to embed streaming video.   It is important  that the video appears to be a part of the content and not open to a new window at anytime.  Also, the rewind and pause buttons for the video are to be controlled by the package's inbuilt play buttons and not those of the video streaming host.

3.  Ensure the screen size for the learning package is restricted to a specific size.  Reason being, some users will have desktop screens at 1920 x 1080 and this will "blur" the video content if stretched to that size.

Your feedback and thoughts are most welcome and appreciated!

Sincere thanks - Nic

Hi Nic

Storyline will handle all three because:

1. You can include the native menu (with or without customising) or build your own

2. Streaming video can be embedded along with a seekbar.

3. Course window dims can be set and held at a specific size.

Although I have a copy of Presenter/Studio 13, I've not yet played with it, but I imagine it will comfortably tackle all the above in much the same way.
