My IT department wants to get me the Adobe video editing program instead of Camtasia because staff in communications already know how to use Adobe products (in case I'm abducted by Aliens or something). I know many eLearning developers prefer Camtasia and I would like to know why. Is there functionality in one that is not in the other? I believe there was something different around accessibility.
Camtasia is the gold standard for creating screenrecordings. So if you are creating screenrecordings, you'll want it. Yes, you can do some video editing in Camtasia, but if you are doing anything remotely complex, you'll want a standalone software. Like Adobe Premiere.
Adobe Premiere is what you'd use for more complicated video editing. I support a lot of people working in the field and it's what I use. Hope that helps.
I have Replay. When I cut about 2 minutes off an hour long recorded webinar, it takes anywhere between 30 minutes to an hour to publish. Is that normal?
Hmmm...I guess you could use Replay to record webinars, but I think it was
developed to create screenrecordings.
Does your organization have access to WebEx or GoToMeeeting? Adobe Connect
is another, pretty sure. If you are running and recording webinars it's be
nice to have such at tool.

Thanks for the info! Do you use both?
Yes, I use both: Camtasia for screenrecordings , and Adobe Premiere for
more in-depth video editing (color correction, speeding clips up, etc).
Of course, if you don't have the funds for Camtasia, you could use Replay.
