Hi, I am developing a course in witch I have to use a video from youtube, I have to download the video then trim it so each slide has a portion of it, but I was wondering, is it legal to do so? or I should abandon this idea?
It depends on the video you want to use. Some videos are uploaded with a Creative Commons license meaning you can use them for your own purposes, but the majority are not. To find the ones you can use, add a filter for Features > Creative Commons to your keyword search on Youtube.
Also, have a good read of the YouTube terms and conditions. There is info in there about copyright and YouTube. From memory, downloading the video from YouTube and using it in your course will breach these terms in many cases. But as Allison mentioned, this doesn't apply to videos with certain CC licenses.
