Who wants to be A Millionera arabic edition test

Aug 28, 2020

I wanted to create a game in order to help me learn storyline  and I started with who wants to be a Millionaire ( very famous in Egypt) , I ended up with tons of questions

Q1 : I wanted to create an interactive questions , I used triggers and sounds and connected it to shapes , is their an easier way to get the same result because I have to create a template for 4 slides of questions
Q2 : I can`t copy triggers from slide to slide ? so if I add an animation trigger I have to repeat that for every slide (not to mention I can`t copy animation to the same object , I have to copy the whole object)
Q3: I wanted to create interactive score , but between have a randomized questions from the bank , to want to have a shape that highlight score every new question
Q4: the sound stops after 4 slide , don`t know why ?
Q5 : with too many trigger it is easy to get lost , when u r working with a team it will get worst , how do you handle that ?

Thank you for listening , I attached the file and any feedback is very welcome

This is build on the lovely template by mac Friendly from here ;

Let's take your questions one at a time.

Q1 - is their an easier way to get the same result?

I find it easier when I rename objects in the Timeline.  So rather than "Left-Right Arrow 3", I name it "Final Answer No button".  It makes life much better and helps when team developing.

It may be easier to move as much as you can to the Slide Master.  Move everything except your question Left-right arrow, your 4 answer left-right arrows, and the Scoring 1 left-right arrow.  That helps remove some of the clutter.

Once you get your first question working correctly, you can duplicate the slide, edit the question, answers, and location of the Correct response just by repositioning it.

Q2 - I can`t copy triggers from slide to slide ?

You can copy and paste triggers, but if you duplicate a working slide after you've moved as much as you can to the slide master, the trigger changes should be minimal.

Q3: I wanted to create interactive score , but between have a randomized questions from the bank , to want to have a shape that highlight score every new question.

You will need two objects.  One that shows the current score, and one that moves.

Add a trigger to change the State of Current Score object to match the Menu_SlideNumber.  You will need 15 states.  You will need 15 triggers.

"Change the state of Current Score to Slide2 when the timeline starts on this page if Menu_SlideNumber - Value 2"

"Change the state of Current Score to Slide3 when the timeline starts on this page if Menu_SlideNumber - Value 3"

And so on.

This shows the current score when the slide starts.  But once the question is answered and the Audio 2 completes, you will need to Hide this object.

Then you can use the variables you have for Scoring 1 as is.

You may be able to put most of these on the Slide Master.

Q4: the sound stops after 4 slide , don`t know why ?

This one is hard for me to pinpoint.  When the questions are drawn randomly, it happens on the 4th question. I moved the audio to the Question Slide Master and had the same problem in Preview.  I published the file to Review 360 and the problem went away.  It still misbehaves in Preview. It may fix itself with a reboot.

In the process of troubleshooting I did notice 2 errors in the Audio 2 triggers on slides Q2.1 Termplate1 (see attachment).  There are similar errors on Q2.2 Template 1.

Q5 : with too many trigger it is easy to get lost , when u r working with a team it will get worst , how do you handle that ?

I usually have a naming convention for pages, variables, and objects in the timeline.  You can also use the space outside of the palette for notes on how a things are set up on a page.  Other than talking through handoff points that's the best I can come up with.

Nice work with what you have so far.
