Change the Icon in the CD-ROM exe

In late 2009 Brian Batt said:

At this time, Articulate does not support changing the color of the icon. However, to change the icon of the "Launch_Presentation.exe" file after publishing a project to CD, you must use a third party tool. Please use a free tool like IcoFX to accomplish this task:

You can easily change the icon of any EXE using the instructions in the tutorial below:

Articulate does not support the use of 3rd party products to alter the published output files. The instructions noted are used at your own risk.

IcoFX worked a treat for me.  So my question is  -   Has anyone had any problems with functionality if they changed the red articulate icon in the EXE?

Be nice if this (add you own ico file) was an export option at time of publishing.  (please)

PS: There is still a vast amounts of quality dialog and fixes on the old forum site. 

Is there a AP strategy to move that information over to Heroes?

Regarding our strategy to move data over, most of the popular discussions have already been moved over.  We typically just deal with any new discussions as needed by referencing the old forum information.

Hi Brian,

Due to my company requirement we can not ship the final training material with Articulate icon in the "Launch_Presentation.exe" file

We need to put our company icon.

I tried
IcoFX - The Free Icon Editor

But while using this tool, My Norton Anti-Virus give alert that "Suspicious.Cloud.5" virus found. If I don't use it and do full scan, Norton  will not complain.

QUESTION - 1 Can you or anyone suggest some good commercial level(paid is fine) tool to change the icon in "Launch_Presentation.exe" file

QUESTION - 2 Is there any possibility Articulate Engineering team can make this small change and release an update ?

QUESTION - 3 - If it is intentional to not let user change the Articulate icon, why is that ? The non-CD version does not have this issue. In HTML version user never see Articulate icon.

This one thing is blocking release of training content to public.

Hi Rajesh,

A quick search on Google will find a ton of programs that will change the icon of the EXE.  For more information, see the link below:

Unfortunately, the engineering team is unable to make this change and release an update.  However, if you'd like to see the ability to change the icon built into the software, please submit a feature request to us by using the link below:

In regards to your third question, the icon is automatically hard-coded into the EXE.  The non-CD version doesn't display the icon because favicons (which are the browser-equivalent) work differently than the actual icons in EXE files.
