Course Duration

Hi Per!

You'll want to test this on your LMS to see if it includes it in the completion data, but there's an option to include elapsed time on the result slide. 

Also, by default, Storyline will send the latency data to your LMS, allowing you to determine how long the user took on each question within your course.

I see that - but I am not thinking of durations of questions, and do not have a result slide at every section of my course.

Is it not possible to have an zumma estimate of time for sections without having a result slide?

I mean - each slide has a timeline. What is the duration of all slides, if timeline is used for all. Do I really need to add all timelines for each section, to have an estimate of the time for all slides?

That is where I thought, that the "Duration" field showed the total duration of the sectioin when publishing (tracking informations)

I think I rember it showed me sometime, but I don't remember where or how.

Are you thinking of the duration option within the Publish dialog? You can click on the elipses next to the course title to open that:

No I am thinking about the duration which is as an option while publishing to LMS under reporting and tracking options

Thank you for the image, Per. As a test, I uploaded a coure to SCORM Cloud after filling in an estimated duration in the field you provided a picture of. Nowhere within SCORM Cloud do I see where that number is reported. I'll ask around and see what significance that particular field offers.

I do know, that if you choose to use the duration field from the screenshot I provided, that Storyline wil display that number when the course is launched from the Mobile Player app. 

So just to be clear, you're hoping for a way to display an estimated duration for your course before a user takes it? 

In the duration on the screen shot above, it shows the duration. However, it appears to only be the base layer. I have many slides with up to 5 layers with different audio on each. Anyone know if there is any other way to see the duration including all layers.

If you're looking to calculate the total duration, you may want to review this thread where a number of other users have discussed how to determine the time it would really take a user to proceed through the course. 

Is there a setting for tracking elapsed user time ?

Hi Just SR - This is not something that is automatically tracked as you can see from the conversation above. This article explains what is sent to the LMS. Check out the thread Ashley shared above for some community assistance perhaps or someone may be able to chime in and assist you here.
