Course reviews with stakeholders

Feb 21, 2012

Hi All,

Your wisdom and guidance is being sought

Our in-house eLearning dept has grown rapidly (which is great) but as most of our customers are based in other countries. This makes the feedback and review process a somewhat arduous task.

In the past we simply uploaded to our sandbox LMS and provided individual user access as needed (very manual but fine for the numbers we were dealing with) and sent a PDF along with the training for people to add comments too (interestingly often conflicting feedback). Since we have expanded, this is proving more difficult.

I've looked around and the only thing I have really found are Lecotra built in review software and Rapid Intakes Review (which looks interesting) has anyone used this and more importantly anyone used it with Articulate? Or is there other review software that I should look at?

I really appreciate any suggestions or guidance that anyone can provide.

Managing the feedback process can be difficult at times, especially when there are a lot of stakeholders.

One method I've used that might help is to build an Excel spreadsheet for the project. Each screen in the course gets a single line (identified by the screen numer and/or title), and each stakeholder gets his/her own column. Feedback is typed in the approriate cell, saved, and e-mailed back to you. (Be sure to format all the cells to allow word-wrapping!)

If your stakeholders do this sequentially, then the second reviewer will see the comments of the first, etc.

If all the stakeholders do this at the same time, then you can copy and paste entire columns to collate all the feedback into a single sheet. It can be a little tedious, but perhaps less than what you're enduring now.

Also, if you have multiple rounds of reviews, you can use the same file; just add a second or third sheet.

Hope that helps!

Take a look at Google Docs - it allows concurrent users to edit/review so it's pretty much 'live' all the time.  Works well if you're working on one or maybe two projects at any given time.  Harder to manage if you have lots of projects on the go though.

One particular problem is ensuring people keep it up to date or even use it in the first place.  Often easier for people (reviewers et al) to just send you an email with random comments and requests that never find their way onto any shared document - no matter how hide you try.

Hey all,

Not sure if you found a solution for this… We were having issues getting good reviews from SMEs, stakeholders, etc. so we created our own solution.  We can upload our courses to the cloud and send review invites to people. All the comments are collected in one place. Plus it has Screenr built into it. It’s been working really great for us and we decided to open it up to others.

You can check it out at ReviewMyElearning.com

Thanks

James
