Creating an online Professional Portfolio

Apr 01, 2013

I am an Independent Instructional Designer trying to build my online presence and portfolio.I've got a website with an example of my work. In addition, I've signed onto eLance and oDesk to generate leads and potential clients. AS part of my profile, I want to add a sample product so someone looking to hire me can view my work. I can upload the .swf file to the profile, but it won't play. In addition, I have a DropBox account to share the files. I can't get the .swf or ..htm files to play here either. Help please?

Thanks,

Jeff

Hey Jeff,

If you're only pushing up the .swf file or the .html file, it won't work. You'll need to publish then entire output structure to your web server.

The basic desktop output should be:

FOLDER: story_content

FILE: meta.xml

FILE: story.html

FILE: story.swf

Then point your visitors to the .html file and everything should run fine.

Hey Jeff!

If you view published Storyline content on your local hard drive or send it to someone else to view on their local hard drive, you'll encounter security restrictions from the computer, web browser, Flash Player, and network that'll cause various features of your content to fail.
To properly test your published content and share it with others, upload it to the environment for which it was published. This article has all the details.
Hope it helps!
