Hi, is there a way to default the marker to display the label automatically when the slides open? So basically, I want the slide to open, have 5 markers, and have the first one already displaying the label with the text in it.
You could "dummy up" an underlay that looks close to your marker label. Have that appear behind your marker and hide it on click of your marker. It's slight of hand magic, but if built right - nobody will be the wiser
I just stumbled on the solution to this issue by accident. I had a marker that was opening automatically and I didn't want that. I'm posting the solution here and in a few other identical threads in case anyone still needs it. If the marker is the first object in the focus order for a slide or slide layer, it opens automatically.

There is no way to trigger a marker or to have it open when a slide loads. You could have some sort of popup appear instead using layers and shapes

Sort of like this....

Needs some tinkering to be 100%, but as the sleight-of-hand guy around here I thought I would have a try

Mitch,
Here is a thread that discusses making your own markers in case it helps. http://community.articulate.com/forums/t/12259.aspx

Thanks Ryan I cannot get that to work the marker is first in the focus order but does not open even if I tab to it, do I need to do anything else?
