Design ideas for an HR Orientation Day

Hello,

I'm trying to come up with an interesting way to walk through all the things that should happen on an orientation day, such as filling out paperwork, meeting other employees, facility tour, company introduction and operating philosohphy.

I'm working in Storyline.

All ideas welcome.

Okay so here's what came to my mind when I read that ....

The premise for your course is an actual "tour". You start outside the office, and then once you click on the front door to enter  you are greeted with the company background/introduction... then you fill out paperwork at the front desk (behind the desk is a sign hanging with the company philosophy that you can zoom in on and find out more about), maybe other clickable areas to explore more information about the company.... you go up the elevator to a lunch room where you meet other employees (envisioning a little sidebar and when you click on each employee you get some sidebar info on what their job title is, what kinds of things they do, what are the reasons you'd need to talk to them, etc) then you get your tour of the facility (hover over certain objects/features to get more detailed explanations of what the things do) and maybe finally end up in the office of the CEO or company director who gives a little talk/final sign off. It would flow as a sequential kind of "Story" but you could use the Menu to skip to various parts.

I'm picturing with nice bright images of the different locations (office building, front desk, lunch room, etc...), a fun decorative font and a vibrant colour scheme (dark grey/turquoise, or something similar)

Great ideas Nicole!

I think it would be great to create an "easter egg hunt" where there is a detail somewhere in the course that tells them if they go find a certain person and say the magic word to that person that they get some sort of prize. Then make it something they will use like a branded coffee mug with a 10$ Starbucks card or something. You could have them collect clues throughout the course that they have to bring to the "secret agent" at the end of the course. You could be the secret agent.

This gives them a great motivator to get through the course and makes it fun at the same time.

Good ideas, Nicole. Jill, if you go the Nicole "Tour" way perhaps give them a road map upfront so the learner knows what to expect. You might chunk the tour by departments--HR/Benefits, Operations, etc. The link Marta provided also has me thinking that if you can provide video of real employees speaking (even if it's a bit rough) that would go a long way to humanize the experience. An Articulate beginner...I began to review the Storyline tuitorials.  They are informative and I'm learning. 

I want to create e-learning modules for a health care organization.  Are their basic interactive courses or slide templates available for download and customization?  If there are, where can I find them?

Thanks for all the great ideas, everyone!  I decided to go with a timeline idea I got from Phil Mayor's apple_timeline.story you can find in this thread: http://community.articulate.com/forums/p/25377/140816.aspx#140816

I wasn't clear enough in my request.  I'm not building an entire orientation course... though I might attempt that now.

I just needed one slide in an HR recruiting/interviewing course that addressed the orientation day.
