Hi Peak!

Just wanted to give you a little information on this  We are working on a Storyline SDK and expect it to be released later this year We don't announce release dates However, if you'd like to receive notifications when new products and updates are released, I recommend subscribing to the Articulate Word of Mouth Blog

I don't mean to be rude here, but for months now we have been hearing that it will be released later this year We are now coming to the end of the year and still there is no SDK, I don't understand why you don't announce dates anyway? It will seriously send users to using other products like Adobe which have more resources available to the developers It is getting to be a bit ridiculous that the wait has taken this long

As others have mentioned in this thread, I'm really looking forward to getting my hands on this SDK  I love the product (my trial is ending next week) but I'm hesitant to purchase the product for my company unless we have an official, guaranteed means of customizing the Storyline player  I'm keeping my fingers cross that it will be made available later this month!

Thanks for being patient, guys! We'll be getting the SDK to you as soon as it's ready Our policy on not using release dates is based on several factors, including stringent standards and our desire to deliver only well-built and thoroughly-tested products We don't do false launches, and you shouldn't have to use inferior products

The best way to stay connected and to be alerted on all things Articulate, is to subscribe to our Word of Mouth blog

Thanks for understanding

Any update on the SDK yet?  I know officially you can't give a "date" but I think most of would just be happy knowing that one is being worked on  We just spent abut $20,000 on licenses and would really like the SDK so we can customize our players  I think I speak for everyone when I say this is really important that this comes out soon

Thanks!

My manger insisted - it is probably out already, go check again

So dissapointed to find it is not

We are using a layer with the design of our previous player in Presenter '09

It is a waste of time to update the menu content in each course

Looking forward for a project with handreds of small learning objects - this is totally frustrating

Efrat Maor

thanks, we used this option

It is tootime consuming

Especially for a project that will have hundreds of small learning objects

Things like updating the menu for each, and also back and forward (that somehow have some errors in each object) - just make it unsuitable for a large scale project

We used it in a lower scale project (~30  elearning courses, from which less than half were in SL and we wanted to have the same player for AP '09 and SL)

Bruce Graham

Efrat,

I am sure you can do most of what you want to do within a Slide Master, so why is it " unsuitable for a large-scale project"?

I have a custom-menu for one company that I just re-use again and again - it does not take long to make the changes needed to adapt it for each course

You must remember that Presenter and Storyline are completely different products with completely different architectures You cannot necessarily expect them to be able to produce the same thing, even when the SDK is released

Bruce,

I'm not talking about the navigation panel, but a menu

The menu that in AP 09 the slide properties define

In each course or learning object I have a different numer of topics - and topics and they needs links as well

Will a link to show hide a layer will work from the master slide?

In PP lots of functionalities on the master slide, do not work fine with what's on the slide

Can I define things like Stop on the master as well?

Currently all the SL courses\objects we have were designed by a vendor (due to work load and us not having time to learn the tool)

They had lots of bugs with the simple Next-Previous buttons

I did do lots of updates and corrections on the last bunch we recieved, and these issues persists

And agian, when a projecy includes hundreds of small objects - it is much more time consuming

What we expect the SDK to achive is the same look-and-feel as we have today, with similar as possible functionality

The current look-and-feel of SL skin is just not good enough
I would expect an option similar to what iSpring has OOB - allowing the user to select between a few predefined skins - with a menu or with a button from which the menu pops, just small buttons etc So although we do not use its SKD, we have high flexibility

I'll re-check the option of a mock-player inside the Master instead of on the slide as was done by our vendor

I am just going to pig-pile on this thread and add my begging to the list   We've been waiting for the SDK since the Storyline release last year

In particular, we're really hoping the SDK will allow us to customize the player   I'm also clamoring for a better method to get Storyline & Flash talk to each other not using the GetVar()/SetVar() javascript method

I know you folks at Articulate are Apple-like in your zeal to keep release details secret, but how about some vague tidbit of information about progress on getting the SDK in our hands?

In the interest of keeping this fire stoked what are other Storyline users hoping the SDK will allow them to do?

I want to be able to create an entirely new player interface at the bottom, with the ability to use custom button images, and add new buttons to do things like show the slide notes, exit the course, slide the player bar in and out of view, and so on  Also I'l like to be able to change the location and look of the progress bar, and so on

Hi All:

As with the REST OF THE WORLD we are getting pretty frustrated with the "Cookie Cutter" Player template So some of us are creating our own solutions:

I have created a template that reads any information I choose from frame xml and populates it in the content area By doing this, my player has only a top right links and nothing else

Hint Hint Think jQuery!
