Really what I am hoping for is more of an API I would love a standardize way to get/set data, events and methods Something that would work in both AS3 and JS

For example:

var slide = player GetCurrentSlide()

The slide object would contain info like title, number, duration, viewed state, etc

Hi Sinchu,

I certainly understand, but I don't have information to share in terms of a release date for new features, updates, or what features may be included I would recommend submitting a feature request, even if you have already it doesn't hurt to do it again Additionally, I'll follow along in the Word of Mouth blog to stay up to date

Hi All:

Thanks to Julian for pointing me to the SL Player SDK download, for some reason I had not been notified of the availability of the product until yesterday while on a call with him

Understanding that the SDK is for Flash only, I had already been well into development of components to place into the content area and had completed and tested them for Slash output, they work terrific

While at it, I had also created HTML5 jQuery scripts that work in Flash output The advantage of the HTML5 output also work in the story_html5 publish, however, I have to keep manually updating the file with the scripts to implement them

Does anyone know which js file I should place the scripts in (within the Articulate Storyline \ Content folder structure) so they will be automatically become published for Flash, HTML5, and Mobile output?

If I get the answer, I will publish the replacement files in my example story located at: http://popular-networking com/project/template/story_html5 html for anyone to download

I also have another example of the Menu and Notes components (for Flash only) at: http://popular-networking com/MenuAndNotesDemo/story html

Best Regards,

Dennis Hall

Hey Dennis,

I wrote about a way to attach files to a Storyline publish and reference them at run-time here:

You might have good luck adding an included folder and noting the folder path in a template This should stay the same every time you publish and be available to HTML5 and Flash outputs

Thanks Steve:

I had not thought of this solution and do see that it can work consistently

I'll work with this idea and see if my scripts work in the external JS file while also being located in a sub folder

I will have to rework the scripts, so give me time and I'll update everyone when done

Hi Jason,

We don't share information in regards to our product road map or features of new updates/versions until they've been released, so if you'd like to see particular support for something such as an SDK/API for HTML5 content you'll want to also share you thoughts here in the form of a feature request.

That's the problem...I've worked with Articulate's tools for years and it's always the same response...submit a feature request. This whole thread goes back 2 YEARS and the whole thing is devoted as a "feature request" for an SDK/API. Most requesting it were expecting an HTML5-supported solution when Articulate released the Flash version...big disappointment.

As a programmer, I recognize that there are many challenges with providing this because publishing a course always produces a Flash version, whereas HTML5 is optional. I sincerely hope that the model in the very-near future is always HTML5 with a Flash option. This aligns with the rest of the web more appropriately. Or have either toggleable. if an abstract API was provided that filtered down to work with both versions could be created, that's great! More likely, an SDK/API that works for HTML5 could be produced which works independently of the existing Flash version and would present the scenario that you could develop toward HTML5 or Flash, but not both necessarily. Either way, people want the HTML5 version because Flash is all but dead and everyone outside of the eLearning industry already knows this. If I sound aggravated, it's because I check this (and other) threads every few months hoping to find an HTML5 version and it never happens--wth!
