Blurry Images in Preview and Published
I've noticed this for awhile, all of my images I insert into this Storyline 3 course appear quite blurry everywhere - on the Storyline development screens, when previewed and when published (either as HTML5 or Flash).
The images are all smaller than the maximum size, they are at 100% scaling, have no effects applied to them. My Publish settings is set to 100% quality. I've tried bitmaps, pngs, jpgs, all identical blurry results.
I've searched these forums and seen a couple other threads on it , but never found a solution or real explanation for it. I can't send this course over to my client - it's embarrassingly bad.
Hi Evan,
We recently released a fix for this in Storyline 360, and the next update of Storyline 3 will include the same fix.
I know this is impacting your work and causing a lot of frustration. I'm sorry I have to add to that by not having an update to share, but as soon as we know more the team will post in discussions like this one.

Hi Ashley,
I am using Storyline 360, but the issue still persists. Images are blurry and along with that if I insert any video, it is also very blurry to the extent that I cannot publish it and the output when published does not look "Professional". Cannot use this published output!
Is there any fix for this?
Hi Stian,
I hear your frustration, and I’ve updated the team on this bug’s continuing impact. It’s now in the best place to get the attention it deserves.
Our process for developing Storyline 3 updates is different than it is for Storyline 360, so we aren’t able to keep them in sync. We do occasionally release fixes between updates, but that can introduce risks so we undertake that only in limited circumstances.

Is there any update on this yet? Still not heard anything?! Seems as though this thread is not even getting checked?....

For me, on SL3, everything is blurry. Pure text. Shapes. Images. Everything gets scaled down about 1.001% or something, making it all blurry in chrome (published) and preview. There are also a lot of other strange issues. Borders at 2px looks messy and cant be used. Sometimes moving an item will snap it to 0.5px, making it blurry even in production. To fix this I have to open size&position and nudge 1px each direction. Using the hotspot shapes will not work properly until I remove outline, as the default 2px border width messes up the triggering on the hotspot. I've got lots and lots of examples, but it seems we're not prioritized on SL3 at all. :/

Well... maybe you're not priotized on SL3, but be reassured that we are not prioritized on SL360 neither. We met the same issues here. Blurriness, odd borders (i'm creating frames by hand...), alignment issues, absurd bugs such as triggers no readable anymore, etc.

What you might want to try is to use the Classic Player and keep your course a fixed size to prevent any scaling. If you can get your captured image about the size of your course screen and then have the image be an EMF you might get good results. The key is to prevent the least amount of scaling.
- RenGomezStaffHi Everyone,Good news! We just released Update 7 for Storyline 3! Here are the details. It includes the fix we made in Storyline 360 that addresses an issue where text and images could be blurry when viewing a course in Google Chrome or Safari. Please download the latest version and let us know if you have any questions, either here or by reaching out to our Support Engineers directly.

Thank you! I think it's ironic that even though this is a big win for the community, I just convinced my company to purchase 360... I did the 60-day trial and won over our executive team.

Issue: Screen captures are fuzzy in Preview and Published.
Solution:
1. Set Screen size to the usual 16:9
If you captured in the smaller size, you must first change it to 16:9 and then do steps 4-10.
2. Capture as usual.
3. When finished capturing:
4. Design Tab
5. Story Size Button
6. Story Size Drop Down to Custom
7. Do NOT uncheck the Lock aspect ratio box
8. Change the Height: to 1200. Width should go to 2047.
9. Leave the radio button to Scale to Fit.
10. Hit the OK button.
This will resize all of your captures to a SUPER large screen size.
Set your viewing to 40% to work.

Hi Lauren - thanks so much for reaching out. The project itself is confidential and I am unable to share it. I can create a dummy version and upload it if you would like to continue the conversation, though I have found a workaround outlined below.
The workaround: SVG images. However this work around adds a significant amount of time and effort on my part, because Storyline doesn't accept SVG files...Essentially what I have to do is first export my images as SVG files, then import them into PowerPoint, then import the PowerPoint into Storyline. Once done the images scale PERFECTLY and look crystal clear in both Chrome and Firefox.
Here's the sticky part though: Only Office 365 offers native support to SVG images.
All of this could be avoided if SVG's were added as an accepted native file type in Storyline.
I found this thread (which goes back 2 years) requesting that this feature be added: https://community.articulate.com/discussions/articulate-storyline/svg-files-for-sl360-on-the-roadmap?page=2#reply-689554
I'm so glad you found a workaround, Aly! It sounds like that approach offers the exact outcome you're looking for.
We don't currently support SVG files in Storyline, but we do have a current feature request that was submitted to our product team. SVG support is not on our roadmap, but if our team decides to make this an addition in future updates, we'll let you know in this discussion!
