Cannot access a closed stream

Hello,

I am able to save my project file fine until I add a video. Then I try to save and get the error Cannot access a closed stream and am unable to save the project file. If I delete the video, I am able to save the project file again.

What can I do?

Erin

  • Hi, since the last update I have the same problem. Unfortunately, saving as or importing to a new project doesn't work in my case. May I ask for further solutions?
    Thanks in advance.

      Hello Kerstin,

I'm sorry to hear you're also having this problem. Do you also get this error message after adding a video? Please confirm if removing the video will allow you to save your project file.

If the issue persists, would you be willing to share your Storyline file with us so we can run some tests on our end? You may also share it privately by sending it along in a support case. We'll delete it when we're done testing.

        Hello Eric,
thank you for your response. The problem persists even if triggers, pictures or videos are removed. I also get the error message "There are not enough memory resources available to process this command."
However, there are enough memory resources free on my device.
My colleague can open, edit and save the file without any problems.
        Best, Kerstin

    Hi all!

I also ran into this error today, working locally. No network drive. So this problem seems to exist for over three years now!

Fortunately, I could rescue about an hour of work by "saving as..."

Hi. I have just received the same message. I've tried saving to my local drive, copying it into another file and neither have worked. I don't want to lose this work as it took me 25 minutes to record a screen and then about 40 minutes for it to load into the file. Please advise asap. Thanks

      Hi Deborah,

Sorry to hear that you ran into this snag.

It looks like you are working directly on a network drive while making changes to your project file. We recommend moving your project file to a local directory on your computer if you are able to do so to reduce the risk of running into file related issues.

As a troubleshooting step, can you try doing a 'Save As' of your project and then saving a new version of your project to either your 'My Documents' or 'Desktop'?

If the issue persists, open a case with our support team here so we can provide further assistance.

    Hello Erin,

Sorry you're running into that error! The message 'cannot access closed stream' could indicate file corruption, but I have a few more questions for you to narrow down the cause:

I'm staying tuned for your responses so we can continue troubleshooting!
