Captions for Videos in Review 360

I may be overlooking it, but -

Is there a way to add CC to videos, when I've uploaded just the video file to Review 360?

  • Is that a Peek video you are referring to JoeWaddington1 ? If so, I don't think there is a way to do that. Doesn't look like Peek supports captions.

The only way you could do it is add the local Peek file to a Storyline or Rise project and add captions then publish to R360.

  • No, it's an MP4 I've loaded into Review. The video is there, but I don't see a way to at captions to it.

This is an example, not the actual video. But the same situation applies. I can't add captions to it.

JoeWaddington1  Ah, ok. I'm with you. I didn't realise you could upload an MP4 directly.

The answer is no, you can't add captions. When you select upload, it only allows you to select a video file, and not an associated captions file (VTT, SRT). Some apps will automatically load the captions if the captions file has the same name as the video file. As the upload only allows you to select video, there is no way to get the captions up there, and there are no tools to generate captions in R360.

You could enable comments and add the video transcript to a comment, but I think the best option is to place the video into a Storyline file, add the captions, add the transcript to the Notes field (and enable notes via the player) and then publish to R360. A few more steps unfortunately.

I think this is an accessibility feature that is missing (same with Peek videos). I would recommend reporting this issue to Articulate.

  • Hi JoeWaddington1 & SamHill,

Thanks for the feedback on the type of functionality you'd like to see in Review 360.

Currently, Review does not support the uploading of caption files for stand-alone videos. However, we are tracking a feature request to introduce this functionality to the platform. I've included both of your voices in the request, and we'll be sure to notify you if we release a future enhancement that helps!
