Choice-Specific feedback on Storyline quiz questions doesn't display upon second review

I'm experiencing an issue with choice-specific feedback on multiple choice questions in Articulate Storyline. I have built a simple multiple choice quiz with feedback layers. When I take the quiz, everything functions as it should within the question slides. When I complete the quiz, I click Review Quiz, and I'm able to review the feedback as I should, with response-specific layers displaying for each quiz question. However, on the second attempt to review the quiz, feedback layers do not display. This is the case whether I pass or fail the quiz, attempt to re-take the quiz, or not. Feedback is visible on the first pass through the review, but never after.

I have tried every kind of setting adjustment I can think of, especially all different settings for layer properties on the feedback layers. It doesn't matter if I have it set as a Quiz or Knowledge Check, and I've made sure to adjust layer properties settings in the Feedback Master, as well as on individual question slides.

What's odd is that when I share the quiz file with my coworkers, one of them experiences the same issue I do, while the other 2 experience no issue. They are able to view feedback on every subsequent quiz review, whether in Preview mode or publishing to R360.

Any suggestions on how to resolve this? Or thoughts on why some coworkers who download the file and make no changes to it, do not experience the issue?

  • Hi everyone,

I have some great news to share.

We just released another update for Storyline 360 (Build 3.114.36655.0), and this includes a fix for the issue you encountered where choice-specific feedback didn’t display on subsequent quiz review attempts.

This was related to slide layers, including feedback layers, not behaving as expected when a slide was revisited.

To take advantage of this update, please open the Articulate 360 desktop app on your computer and click the Update button next to Storyline 360. You can find step-by-step instructions here.

Please let me know if you’re still seeing any trouble after updating or if you have any questions!

  • I am also experiencing the same issue. What's odd is that I wasn't experiencing this issue prior to the most recent update.

  • Our team is having the same issue with the new update. it seems to be related to SL ignoring the layer transparency on a repeat view of the slide.

  • Hi NancyDoren-58ac, thanks for sharing such a detailed breakdown. I can see how confusing this would be, especially with the inconsistent behavior you and others are seeing.

I also appreciate megowseth, ToddBearson-64c, ArthurKorous-c4, and NateMarshall-91 chiming in. It’s really helpful to see that more folks are experiencing this, and especially that it seems to be tied to the most recent update.

I was able to reproduce this behavior using the latest version of Storyline, where choice-specific feedback appears during the first review but does not display on subsequent reviews.

Since this is now confirmed on our end and others are reporting the same after updating, this doesn’t appear to be related to your slide setup or feedback layer settings. Instead, it seems tied to how review data is handled after the initial review pass in the latest version.

I’ve shared this with our product team so they’re aware and can investigate further.

At the moment, there isn’t a setting adjustment that consistently resolves this. As a workaround, reverting to the previous Storyline version (Build 3.113.36519.0) allows the feedback to display as expected across multiple review attempts.
