Closed Caption Translations (1 training in multiple Languages)
Hello Articulate Storyline Experts!
I work for a global company where we have people that speak a variety of languages (English, Spanish, Portuguese, Chinese, Japanese & Korean).
For these we typically have a training in English, and then subtitles in each of the variety of languages.
Is there a trick to creating 1 training with options to choose which language the Closed Captions should be? (Right now I'm creating each training first in English, then Copying the training & adding a different Language in the CC. Making 6 different files).
Or a trick to Exporting the Closed Captions typed in to be translated?
Any input is appreciated.
Hello Laura,
Thanks for reaching out!
Storyline 360 currently doesn't support multiple languages for Closed Captions, but I added your voice to the feature request that we already have open for this enhancement. We'll be sure to leave a message here if we have any updates to share!

Awesome! This would be a great feature to have.
Let me know if you need any user scenarios to help push the implementation.
For example, It would definitely help reduce duplicate efforts of Creating & Updating numerous of the same training.
As well as when it comes to assigning out the trainings in our local Learning Management System (LMS)
Thank you for keeping me posted if any updates happen.

2024 and still no multi-language CCs?
Please add my voice to the feature request... - CarrieRitter-d8Community Member
Is this actually not a feature?! It's 2023...

I need this feature too. I'm really surprised that Articulate 360 doesn't offer this functionality for global companies. I have a Storyline 360 course in English. The owner needs closed captions added in 5 languages. Similar to a webpage, I'd like to see an option in the player to select from multiple languages and display the language in closed captions.
Hello Tanya,
Thanks for letting us know that multiple languages for Closed Captions will also be helpful for you! I've added your voice to the request.

I have been tracking this request / chat for over a year. As this feature is not available, and there doesn't appear to be any movement on it despite the plethora of requests, we will be dropping our Articulate subscription. ActivePresenter is the alternative e-learning authoring software we will be using moving forward. We can't wait any longer.

Just adding my name to this seemingly unattended list. Multilingual support is fairly pitiful across the Articulate catalog. Storyline, of all tools, should be the lowest hanging fruit. Instead we are forced to hack through it by making DIY solutions - multiple rules, variables, state changes, etc...
Rise has the ability to extract text for translation and import it into a new course, but no way to allow learners to switch between languages as they go through a course. We already create the content in multiple languages due to our global footprint, but find it frustrating that we have to deliver separate courses for each language. We don't like to lock our learners down to a single language, especially for those that may want to take a course in a language they are learning, but also want the security of falling back to their preferred language.
Reach 360 has zero multilingual support at all. I had to create an information document to accompany a welcome email to walk learners through the onboarding process because there was no way to even change the email text.- DebbieKropp-130Community Member
@John Holland, well said! Thank you! This request has been going on for a while (April 2023), and there are two pages of requests. Nothing has moved forward on this request, and I like you have a large global footprint and have to deliver separate courses for the different languages that allow our international staff to efficient eLearning in their own language. We, as IDs, are to cater to all diversities and accessibilities, and we have to spend days and weeks of our time re-creating the same course!
Thanks so much, Laura! We appreciate you sharing your thoughts with us.
Have a great start to your week! ✨

Having an ability to export, localize all the CC and then import them back would save tremendous amount of time and effort. Please add it to feature requests!
