Combining scenes in Storyline

I am working on a project which includes final product of 4 different scenes (lessons) combined into one file with an exam at the end.  Each scene or lesson was similar, such as using the same font type and size, same color pallet and so forth.  But when I put the 4 together something screwy happened.  The font (Calibri) was switched to Open Sans and the white in the dialog boxes turned to black.  A number of slides, in the different scenes, with color in the background changed to a completely different color.  And the text boxes in the Knowledge Reviews lost the formatting also.  It was a mega mess!  I wanted to cry.  The order of the scenes also changed.  It's like someone took my file and shook it up hard.  I ended up starting out completely with a new file and was able to at least get the scenes combined and published for my review, but I just was wondering if anyone out there that has had the same problem and why oh why it happened in the first place?  I still have one more set to put together and I really would prefer to do it correctly the first time.

Thank you all for any input or wisdom you may have to help me avoid this ever happening again! 😀

  • Hello KellyHelms-f207,

Thanks for sharing details about your experience importing existing Storyline 360 project files.

You'll want to ensure you're working locally when making your Storyline 360 project file edits. This includes importing any type of content into the course. Some other factors to consider would be if you have the correct fonts installed and importing content into a Storyline 360 project file that uses the same slide size. If both project files are nearly identical in their settings, please feel free to share a copy of your files here or in private by opening a support case so we can test the behavior to understand what's causing the formatting issues. We'll delete it when we're done testing!

  • I guess we start at the storage location. If these were not on your hard drive, there can be some corruption from other storage places. Artiulate has stated the files should be stored on your computer.

Next, did you use the exact same template for each. I normally start one project (scene) then save it with different names. Most of the time that keeps it straight.

The best way is to build each scene in the same project and add them together within one project. I just adding scenes as I need them.

In all the years I have been using the program I still find these little and sometimes big glitches that pop up. Again, the big one is storage. Save to your hard drive, this may be hard with a lot of companies wanting us to use cloud-based storage, but it prevents a lot of these issues.

    Good luck
