Em-Dash and En-Dash (RISE)

Hello Team:

I'm looking to add an em dash (the long dash) as part of a title in Rise. I don't see anything posted and wanted to know if anyone knows if this is an option in Rise. I see it has been added to Storyline, but I'm working in Rise on this one.

Thanks!

  • Hi, Folks. I told my fellow instructional designers about the Alt codes for em-dash and en-dash a long time ago. That's all well and good, but I think the real point here is that there should be an easier way to generate the em-dash and en-dash in Articulate products, such as a "special characters" list on the text editing command bar. Thoughts?

Thanks for the help. I'm always cutting and pasting from another document. Much appreciate the insight to use the number pad, Brian Houten.

Hi Michele! For the en-dash it is Alt then 0150.

  • It only works for me if I use the numeric keypad to enter the 0151. If I try to use the top row numbers it does not work.

  • Yes, these alternative codes work in Word, and I have used them in some Adobe products also.

Hi Tracy! Awesome to hear that the alternate codes are working for you in Word, Are you also having problems with using the same codes in Rise 360?

  • Hi MATC group and Adam! Are you able to add the Em-dash via Alt+0151 in another application such as Microsoft Word?

alt+0151 doesn't work for me when editing in Rise on Windows10 - had to fall back to copy-paste from a document.

Try using the keypad to enter the 0151. The top row number keys did not work for me.

I just tried Alt+0151 on a Windows 10 PC and it worked.

  • Hello, PJ!

I was able to insert an em-dash into the title of a Rise 360 course by using this em-dash keyboard shortcut on my Mac: Option + Shift + Hyphen (-)

If you're using Windows, try this em-dash keyboard shortcut: Alt+0151
