email button not working on rise 360?

I have been adding in email links that work on my rise 360 course until today. Now when I start to edit the button, I type in my email address, and it disappears as soon as I click off of it and it displays a red "X". What do I do? See photo attachment. Thank you in advance for the help!

I am having the same or a similar problem.  The button works when I preview from within Articulate, but when I launch the microlearlearning from our LMS,  I am getting the following error when I click on the button to email.

      Hi NinaLesser!

Sorry to hear Rise 360 Button Blocks are not functioning when uploaded to your LMS!

I see that you've opened a support case, that's been received by our senior support engineers. You're in great hands troubleshooting with them, and they should be following up with you shortly!

In the meantime, I suggest testing the published output with SCORM Cloud. If the Button Block functions properly in SCORM Cloud, but not in your LMS, there's a chance that the issue might be LMS-specific. In which case, I recommend connecting with your LMS administrator so they can check to see if something could be getting in the way, within the LMS environment.

Thanks StevenBenassi. Yes, when I click the button I get a blank browser window.

I have cleared the cache and used an incognito window, but I still get nothing or a blank window I have recorded my screen in this video.

      Hi DanReynolds13!

Thank you for following up and sharing the screen recording!

I noticed you've also opened a support case that's been received by my teammate Lianne. You're in great hands troubleshooting with her, and she should be connecting with you via e-mail, shortly.

Let's continue the conversation through your case to keep all information in one spot.

      Hi DanReynolds13!

Sorry to hear you're having trouble with Button Blocks in Rise 360!

The behavior discussed in this thread was resolved in a previous update. While testing on my end, in Google Chrome, Link to a relative URL, and Send an email, both functioned as expected. Just to confirm, you are able to edit the destination of a Button Block, but when clicking the button it only opens a blank browser window?

If clearing your browser's cache, or using an incognito browser doesn't improve the issue, do you mind sending us a screen recording of the behavior so we can troubleshoot this better? Feel free to provide that here in the discussion or privately through a support case.

Looking forward to hearing from you!

Hi StevenBenassi , thanks for the information. I have tried clearing the cache and trying  an incognito window, but nothing had changed. To confirm, yes, when clicking the button it just opens a blank browser window. You can see what happens in the video below.

        Thanks

        Dan

  • Thank you for the suggestion -- i cleared the cache and re-created the email link in the button block, but I am still getting this:

(Is this an Outlook issue -- and not a Chrome issue?  (But I guess it wouldn't work in Safari then...??) I appreciate the troubleshoot offer! thank you...

Thanks -- I'll reach out to our IT folks to see if they have any insights.... thanks

  • Hi ColleenMcKayWha,

    Thanks for reaching out!

I created a sample course and added a button block. When viewing the course in Chrome Version 132.0.6834.111, it works in preview mode and when published. Have you checked that your browser is up to date? You could also try clearing your browser cache to see if that makes a difference. If not, please let me know, and I'll be happy to troubleshoot further!

Hi Kelly -- Back again and will take you up on your offer --

Here's what's happening -- we THOUGHT it may be an OUTLOOK issue -- but now not certain.  Here are ae few things to consider"

      1 - I am on a Mac -- I have shut it down, re-booteed, etc -- no success.

2 - I am working in Chrome -- When I click the email link, I get the 'sad face' saying refused to connect to Outlook. But WEIRDLY:

3 - When I open the course in SAFARI - it works!  And then opens my Outlook mailbox on my CHROME browser. And works as it should.

SO -- should we be doing something in Chrome?  PS:  I have cleared all the cookies and browsing History. Also, Chrome is the most current version (Has been uninstalled AND re-installed) , and Mac is also the most current with plenty of memory. This is the course title" 5 Minutes to Help: An Intro to Substance Use Disorder, Treatment, and Resources for EMS".  --  How can I best give you access -- Or do you have any suggestions?  Happy to Zoom if helpful.

      THANK YOU!

        Hello ColleenMcKayWha,

I appreciate you sharing the details of your test results! It's interesting that the issue only happens with Google Chrome but works in Safari.

I recommend trying the steps again using Google Chrome's incognito mode to rule out possible browser extensions that are causing the problem.

If the problem persists, we'd be glad to investigate further. Would you be willing to share your Rise course or affected lessons by opening a support case? We'll delete our copy when we're done testing.

So, it seems the email option in the button block is still not working.  I found it DOES WORK in Safari -- but not in Chrome. DOES ANYONE HAVE A SOLUTION to this?  Thanks!

  • Hi Everyone!

Sorry to hear you've encountered issues with the Button Block not working as expected when the destination is set to "send an email."

Our development team has logged this behavior as a software bug. I've linked this discussion to the bug report so you can be notified as soon as a fix is in place.

Thank you for your patience. I'm sorry if this has been slowing you down!

  • Has this been resolved yet??? I am unable to finalise and publish a project while this functionality is not working.

    Hi Morgan,

The functionality to enter an email address appears to be broken right now.
